(Champaign-jm) -- The final four candidates to fill the vacancy on the Parkland College Board have been announced. Charles Young of Champaign, George Johnston of Monticello, Scott Tapley of Savoy and Jonathan Westfield of Savoy will each be interviewed in a special open session tomorrow at 7 p.m. The candidate chosen as Trustee will serve until the next Board of Trustees election in April 2019.

Council members will also discuss and consider designating handicap parking spaces at South Park, set trick or treat hours and discuss drafting a social media policy. (Clinton-jm) -- The City of Clinton is expected to approve an agreement to dispose of leaves and yard waste at tonight’s city council meeting. Council members will also be asked to approve a pair of facade agreements and amend the city’s liquor codes. The Clinton City Council meeting gets underway at 7 p.m.

 

(Undated-jm) -- The country has been battered this year by Mother Nature, and a new study from the Midwest Economic Policy Institute warns that the threat of climate change extends much farther inland and could wreak havoc on transportation and infrastructure systems across the Midwest. (Undated-jm) -- The State Supreme Court is announcing 7th Judicial Circuit Judge John Schmidt has been assigned to the 4th Judicial District as Appellate Court Justice. Schmidt takes over for the retiring Justice Thomas Appleton in December. He has over 25 years experience including over 10 years as a prosecutor. The 4th Judicial Circuit includes: Champaign, DeWitt, Macon, McLean and Piatt Counties.
