(Undated-jm) -- Those wanting to nominate someone for one of three awards by the American Soybean Association have less than a week left to do so. The American Soybean Association is accepting nomination for the Outstanding State Volunteer Award, Distinguished Leadership Award and the Pinnacle Award. The deadline to nominate someone is October 16th.



(Undated-jm) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced they will process many pending eligible offers for land enrollment in the Conservation Reserve Program or CRP and that it will temporarily suspend accepting most new offers until later in the 2018 fiscal year.  Acting Farm Service Agency Administrator Steven Peterson says all current, eligible CRP continuous enrollment offers made through September 30, 2017, except for those made under the Pollinator Habitat Initiative, will be approved. Peterson also says they are suspending acceptance of offers to review allocation levels and to avoid exceeding the statutory cap of 24 million acres.

(Springfield-jm) -- Governor Bruce Rauner says he’s planning more overseas trade missions in the coming months. Last month, the Governor went to China and Japan to foster relationships with officials and businesses, and says he will be heading to Israel in about three weeks…

(Clinton-jm) -- The Clinton Fire Department held their annual Fire Truck Parade last night. More than 20 fire trucks from across the area participated in the parade as part of Fire Prevention Week.


(Monticello-jm) -- A Monticello man has announced he will run for Piatt County Circuit Clerk. Seth Floyd has announced he will run for the seat held by Laurie Birch, who was appointed to the position earlier this year. Birch has not yet announced whether she will run for re-election.
